December 2012

On December 2, 2012, we got Nolan’s first Christmas tree. It was cold and rainy, so we did not cut down our own, but selected one they had already cut down.

Nolan has not been enjoying his baths recently. He hates water being poured over his head and he refuses to put his feet in the water. I can’t wait to show him this picture when he’s older!

Here’s a picture from our Christmas card photo shoot:

I can’t believe Nolan is 6 months old already! Nolan gets so excited to eat solid foods. I hope he gets that excited for my cooking! His favorite foods are avocado and sweet potato. He does not like bananas and has not tried peas yet, but he likes everything else we have given him (apples, pears, zucchini, and yellow squash). He loves his Jumperoo from Judi, Erica, and Auntie Lee Lee. We have a bunch of videos of him jumping and talking to us while in it. He giggles when we tickle his feet and his belly. He loves playing Peek-a-Boo and he hates baths. He rolls onto his belly soon after we lay him down on his back. He naps for 30 minutes at a time, sleeps on his belly, and is still getting up 3-6 times per night. He looks at the pictures in books that we read him and he grabs everything and puts all of it in his mouth. Everywhere we go, at least 1 person stops me to look at him and they almost always comment on his hair. Here is Nolan on his first ever half birthday:

Today was Nolan’s 6 month well baby check up. He weighs 17 pounds 9.6 ounces (50th percentile) and is 28.5 inches long (99th percentile). The maximum height for his car seat is 29 inches, so it’s a good thing we bought him his “big boy” car seat for Christmas! Nolan got 4 shots today. He only cried when the nurse was administering them and has been his normal self since. The nurse mentioned that he is strong and tough (that’s my boy!). I told the doctor that Nolan is still not sleeping through the night and she told me that I should not be feeding him at all throughout the night. Well, that’s easier said than done when you have a screaming baby at 2:00am!

The doctor told me that I can start giving him puffs to eat and water in a sippy cup and to give him water when he wakes at night. I asked her how much solid food I should be feeding him. She told me that I should offer him food until he turns his head or spits it out which is what I read, but I just wanted to check the accuracy of that. She also said that his 2 bottom teeth are ready to come in. I had to laugh because a different doctor told us that same thing at the end of October and still no teeth! He goes back in January for another dose of the flu shot and then in March for his 9 month appointment. There’s nothing more satisfying than having a great well baby visit!

I think Nevin is a little too big for the play gym:

The Minitab Holiday Party was December 14. This was our sixth holiday party, our first at the Penn Stater, and the shortest (we were home by 10:00pm!). Mimi and Pop came from Easton to watch Nolan for the evening.

Nolan was lucky enough to have a white first Christmas! We spent Christmas Eve at Babi’s and Grandpa’s house with the King family and Christmas day was spent at our house. Nolan sat so nicely the whole time I was helping him open his gifts. He liked to rip the paper and put it in his mouth! Here’s Nolan opening a gift on Christmas morning:

Daddy took the week off and spent lots of time with Nolan. They love to read together!

Mimi, Pop, and Uncle Brad came on the 30th to celebrate Christmas with us. They brought lots of presents and Nolan did a great job helping me open them.

Mimi even brought his stocking along!

Nolan had a fantastic first Christmas!
