November 4 – Spencer is Walking
Spencer took his first steps (more steps than just transferring from the couch to the coffee table or something similar) today! When he walks, he looks like a mummy because his hands are straight out in front of him. He also takes a couple of steps backwards before going forward. When he gets to his destination, he smiles, laughs, and claps.
November 12 – Update on Boys
Nolan is doing very well at preschool. He never has an issue going to school which is great for me. He is learning a lot and especially likes counting. He wants to count everything from food on his plate to piece of dirt on the floor! He also is interested in spelling and can spell his name and Mia’s name. He is constantly asking what letters words begin with and pointing out beginning letters of words. The sense of independence he has gained amazes me every day. He can put his pants and underwear on by himself (still working on the shirt and socks!), he goes to the bathroom by himself, and he gets his own snacks, drinks, and plates. Some days he eats everything in sight and some days he doesn’t eat much at all. He takes a nap around 1:00 that last for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. He loves to play with trucks, cars, and emergency vehicles. He has an incredible imagination and tells stories all the time. He says the sweetest things and makes me smile every day.
Spencer still prefers to crawl, but walks if there is something he really wants to get to. He runs the circle around the living room, kitchen, and dining room with his walker at least 30 times per day. He climbs on the small table and chairs so he can grab crayons and eat the tips. His favorite words are “dada” (he calls everyone “dada”, including me!) and “uht-oh”. He still takes 2 naps, one around 9:15 and the other around 2:00. He eats anything and everything and probably eats more than I do. However, he will not drink cow’s milk. I had this same issue with Nolan and tried everything I could to get him to drink it, but admittedly, I have not tried very much with Spencer (2nd child, sorry!). He smiles from ear to ear when I am taking a picture of him and he laughs hysterically when other people are laughing. He loves to blow raspberries on bellies, pick up my cell phone and say “iiiiii”, and talk to the TV while pointing the remote at it. He sure is a fun-loving, happy kiddo.
November 25 – Thanksgiving in Easton
Before we headed to Easton, we celebrated Oscar’s 8th birthday with a cookie from Wiscoy.
We then left around 9:00 AM on Wednesday morning for Easton. Spencer took an hour and a half nap in the car, but even though Nolan was yawning the entire ride, he did not fall asleep. When we got to Easton, we ate lunch and then both (all) boys took a nap. I went with Pop to pick up Uncle Brad’s car from being inspected and when we dropped it off, we stopped in to see Mia for a few minutes.
After nap, Uncle Brad, Aunt Megan, and Mia came over for pizza and french fries from Antonio’s.
Unfortunately, Spencer was awake and crying from 12:50-2:50 that evening.
Thursday morning, Nolan and I went to Elise’s for the tailgate before the Easton/P’Burg game while Nevin stayed with Spencer so he could take his morning nap. Nolan had a great time talking to everyone, playing with Colette and her toys, and playing with a 3 year old neighbor boy. As always, it was great to see my high school girls even if it was for a short period of time.
It was such a beautiful day that we couldn’t pass up a chance to play outside. Pop got out the water table and both boys had a blast. Since they were getting so wet, we took their clothes off.
After dinner, Uncle Brad and Aunt Megan asked if Nevin and I would be Mia’s godparents and we, of course, said yes! Since it’s tradition, we watched Christmas Vacation (most of it) and then went to bed. Spencer had a rough night again, but not nearly as rough as the night before.
We got to play outside again on Friday and Auntie Cait stopped by to say hello. Uncle Brad, Aunt Megan, and Mia came over to say bye and we headed back to our puppies around 2:00.
November 28 – Getting Our Christmas Tree
We went to Tannenbaum Farms again this year and it was raining, but it was so warm (around 56 degrees) that we didn’t mind the rain. We decided to push Spencer’s morning nap back, but he fell asleep in the car on the way there:
When we arrived, an employee brought us a saw and tree cart and asked Nolan if we were going to get our Christmas tree today. He then explained to her that we wanted a soft tree, not a spiky tree, because “when you touch them they hurt and you say, ‘ouch!'”. I put Spencer in the Ergo and we headed up the hill and down a different hill to the Fraiser Firs.
I found a tree then we looked a little bit more, but Nolan was very anxious to cut down the tree, so we went back to the original and that’s just what we did. Nolan wanted me to take a picture of just him. Little did he know I snuck Spencer in the picture, too:
Our 8 foot 2 inch tree doesn’t look so big after putting it in our new living room!
Nolan was so excited to decorate the tree. He hung ornaments on it from the time he woke up from nap until the time he went to bed. Before we ate dinner, he said, “I love you Christmas tree.” and gave it a kiss. While we were eating dinner, he said he really misses the Christmas tree. He watched the iPad under the tree and moved his potty under the tree. He loved looking at and playing with all of my “daughter” ornaments.
November 30 – Christmas Decorating
Nolan helped me decorate the rest of the house. He loved looking at all of the decorations as I took them out of the bins. He enjoyed the nutcrackers the most; feeding them pieces of napkin and watching them poop it out was his favorite. His elf, Chippy, appeared and Nolan talks to him, has me read to him, and tells him he loves him. I am so excited for Christmas because Nolan is so excited!
